I had the follow up with the fertility doctor at the Ottawa Clinic today. We discussed all my test results which all came back normal for my age and she confirmed that I am good to moved forward with the IUI procedure after I have a reproductive counselling session to make sure I am fully understanding all the ins and outs of this IUI procedure and possible outcomes.
We are aiming to have everything ready for an early April procedure!

I lucked out today and was able to get in the counselling session I needed. I really enjoyed talking to this woman because she was very knowledgable on the subject of the IUI procedure as she had done it herself. We talked about everything from how to choose the right donor for me all the way through to how to talk to your child about where they came from. After our meeting, I feel more that prepared to move forward and hopefully have this procedure by the beginning of April!
The counselling sessions vary in cost depending on the person. Most seemed to be around the $200 mark for the hour appointment.
I have also started looking at different sperm banks to decide which donor is right for me. My friend Jess suggested I make an excel sheet to list all the potential donors so that is what I am doing. While it is my decision at the end of the day, I am asking for opinions from a few friends and family members that have asked if they can be included.
Looking forward to April!

I just ordered a vial of donor sperm from Canada Cryo bank today. Only one vial. I’m just feeling really good about it so I’m hoping it’s a one and done situation! The one I picked is very handsome. He had an adult picture as well as a couple baby/childhood pictures. I’m going to download all the information I can about him from the website so I can have it for the future baby. I want to make sure I can give them all the information possible when the time is right. The donor also has ID release so when the baby is 18 they can find out more about the donor. It doesn’t mean the donor will want to meet them but it will hopefully provide any answers that I can’t give.
I had a lot of help from family and friends looking through all the options and in the end came across another donor at the last minute that I decided to go with! If I get pregnant, I’ll give more details.
